Corporate Volunteer Opportunities:
Kitchen Sort Parties
Prepare boxes of kitchen items for homeless families entering Homestretch. Each box contains donated dishes, glasses, pots and pans, silverware, and cooking utensils for one family. These parties take place at the Homestretch offices three times per year.
Back to School Picnic (July)
Each July Homestretch families come together for a day of fun and food. Each family provides a dish from his /her own culture. At the end of the festivities, each youth receives a donated backpack full of grade–appropriate school supplies. You can help with activities, refreshments, and packing the backpacks. Time commitment is approximately three hours.
National Volunteer Day (October)
Every year in late October the U.S. celebrates National Volunteer Day. Homestretch families participate so that the adults learn to give back to the community and so their children can learn by watching their parents do so. Families participate in projects such as tree plantings, building park paths or enhancing local school grounds and buildings. Time commitment is one time a year for five hours. Lunch is provided. Lunch donations are welcome.
Holiday Shopping Spree and Gift Wrapping Party (December)
Help the children select appropriate gifts for family members, wrap presents, and help with the refreshment set-up. Time commitment is three hours on the first Saturday of December.
