CHILD SERVICES

At Homestretch we have a deeply held belief that our ultimate goal is to break the cycle of poverty. That is why the Child Services Program is so important at Homestretch.

Children who are homeless are more likely to be sick, more likely to fall behind in school, more likely to witness violence in their home or community and more likely to have lower self-esteem than children who are not homeless.

In fact, children who are homeless are more likely to be homeless when they are adults. In order to make sure that this does not become a reality, Homestretch has two Child Services Coordinators who work to make sure that the children receive everything they need to be successful. Some of these things include quality health and mental health services, enrollment in appropriate schools and quality daycare facilities, access to programs and services in the community and the benefits of age appropriate activities in the Homestretch Child Teen Enrichment Program. We make sure that the children of Homestretch are stable and have the tools necessary to go on to lead productive lives.

Homestretch also provides some very special opportunities for the children each year. We work hard so that the children have fun and exciting experiences and at the same time, we can provide them with the things other children their age have.
